Account Deletion & Data Erasure Policy

Learn how to delete your Guyana Matrimony account, understand what data is erased, and submit a web-based deletion request in compliance with Google Play and Apple App Store data safety policies.

1. Overview & Your Right to Erasure

At Guyana Matrimony (“Platform”, “we”, “our”, or “us”), we value your privacy and autonomy over your personal information. In accordance with applicable data protection regulations, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and mobile application store requirements (Google Play & Apple App Store), you have the absolute right to request the deletion of your account and the erasure of your personal data at any time.

Once you initiate an account deletion request, your profile is immediately hidden from the platform search, discovery feeds, and recommendation algorithms.

2. How to Delete via Mobile App

You can delete your account directly from within the Guyana Matrimony mobile application by following these simple steps:

  • Open the Guyana Matrimony App and log in to your account.
  • Tap on your Profile / Account icon in the bottom navigation bar.
  • Select Settings (gear icon) › Account & Privacy Settings.
  • Scroll to the bottom and select Delete Account.
  • Select a reason for account deletion (e.g., Found my match on Guyana Matrimony, Found my match elsewhere, Taking a break, Other).
  • Confirm by entering your password or verifying the OTP sent to your registered mobile number/email address.
  • Tap Confirm & Delete Account.

Your session will be logged out immediately, and your profile will be unlisted.

3. Web-Based Deletion Request

If you no longer have access to the mobile application or wish to submit an erasure request through the web, you may do so through any of the following options:

Send an email from your registered email address to contact@guyanamatrimony.com with the subject line Account Deletion Request - [Your Profile ID].

Please include the following verification details in your message:

  • Full Name: As registered on your profile
  • Profile ID / Guyana Matrimony ID: (e.g., GM98207518)
  • Registered Email: Your login email
  • Registered Phone Number: With country code
  • Reason for Deletion: (Optional)

4. Types of Data Deleted

Upon permanent deletion of your account, the following categories of data are purged and permanently deleted from our primary application databases:

  • Authentication & Account Identifiers: Login credentials, hashed passwords, OAuth session tokens, device IDs, and FCM push notification tokens.
  • Personal Profile Data: Full name, date of birth, age, marital status, religion, caste, community, mother tongue, height, diet, and lifestyle details.
  • Media & Documents: All uploaded profile photos, private gallery images, voice notes, audio files, and horoscope documents.
  • Education & Career: Education qualifications, college/university, profession, company, working location, and annual income information.
  • Family & Contact Details: Family type, values, parents’ background, residence location, address details, and phone numbers.
  • Partner Preferences: Desired age range, height, religion, education, location, lifestyle, and matching criteria.
  • User Activity & Interactions: Shortlists, profile views, interest requests sent and received, connection statuses, and in-app chat logs.

5. Data Retention & Legal Exceptions

While personal profile and communication records are deleted, Guyana Matrimony is required under statutory and regulatory compliance frameworks to retain certain limited data for specific legal reasons:

  • Financial & Billing Records: Invoice numbers, payment transaction IDs, currency, GST/tax records, and payment gateway confirmation logs must be preserved for statutory tax and accounting audits (typically up to 7–8 years) as required by financial regulations.
  • Law Enforcement & Security Compliance: If an account is subject to an active investigation, reported for fraud, harassment, cybercrime, or terms violations, relevant security logs and verification hashes may be preserved in isolated, restricted storage pursuant to Section 69 / Section 79 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and court orders.
  • Suppression / Deletion Index: An anonymised identifier hash is retained to prevent the re-sending of marketing communications and to ensure your deletion preference remains respected.

6. Processing Timeline & Grace Period

Stage 1: Immediate Deactivation (Within minutes)
Your account is locked, unlisted, and removed from search results, match feeds, and recommendation algorithms. Other users will no longer see your profile.

Stage 2: Verification & Processing (1 to 7 Business Days)
Any active recurring subscriptions are canceled, media files are removed from cloud storage (AWS S3), and background job queues are cleared.

Stage 3: Permanent Erasure (Within 30 Days)
All personal information is permanently deleted from production databases, cache servers, and secondary backup archives as backup rotation completes.

7. Consequences of Account Deletion

Please review the following important consequences before submitting your account deletion request:

  • Irreversible Action: Once permanently deleted, your profile, match history, photos, messages, and preferences cannot be recovered or restored. If you wish to use Guyana Matrimony in the future, you will need to register a brand new account.
  • Subscription Cancellation: Account deletion immediately terminates any active premium subscription plan and features. In accordance with our Refund Policy, unused subscription duration, add-ons, or remaining days are non-refundable.
  • Chat and Communication History: All conversation threads and messages are erased from your account.
